First Friday Art Walk With Clayton Crawford

Clayton Crawford is a Winfield native and proud of his Kansas roots. Known for his intelligence, humor, passion, and deep care of others as well as his music, Clayton is a Winfield and Kansas treasures on and off the stage. He has been a fixture on the Blues and Rock and Roll scene in Kansas for years as a vocalist and electric guitar player in the band Built for Comfort, Not for Speed. Most recently, Crawford was a featured soloist performer at the 2022 Cowley County Juneteenth Celebration.

Beyond Kansas, Crawford has played from Maui, Hawaii to Majorca, Spain, garnering an excellent performance reputation, opening for acts like Buddy Guy, Willie Dixon, Taj Mahal, Delbert McClinton, Son Seals, Robert Cray, and many more.

Other bands Crawford has performed with include The Howlerz, Clayton Crawford and The Creepers, and currently The Night Watchmen. 

In addition to his music, he is known for his poetry reading and public speaking engagements which have also been a love of his for many years. He performed Aaron Copland's "Lincoln Portrait" with the Southwestern College Concert Band, and collaborated in 2001 and 2016 with Eugene Friesen and the Paul Winter Consort at the premiere of Carl Sandburg's Prairie in Kansas. Clayton is also an accomplished public speaker and has also won various awards over his career.
