First Friday at the Marquee: Majesty of Spring - Wings and Blossoms
As the birds return from their winter retreat and the wildflowers bloom, the Chaplin Nature Center comes alive, showcasing the beauty of nature’s seasonal awakening. Eden Johnson will take Marquee First Friday attendees on a virtual tour of Kansas as it transforms during this vibrant time of year.
Country Night Picnic Concert Featuring Roy Isern Band
The evening will feature Wichita-based country artist Roy Isern, known for blending modern country with outlaw grit. Recognized for his authentic voice and honest songwriting, Isern’s music reflects themes of late nights, heartbreak, and real life. His singles include “Doin’ Fine,” “Saturday Dancin’ Boots,” and “I Love,” and his debut album, Guitar and a Song, highlights his emergence as a rising voice in independent country music. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic baskets with their choice of food and beverages. This is a BYOB (bring your own beer) event, and all ages are welcome, although IDs will be checked. Soft drinks, popcorn, and candy will also be available by donation. A suggested donation of $10 per person is requested. All proceeds and donations from the event will support the Marquee PAC.

Michelle Boucher, Associate Professor of English at SC, will present her poetry program, Living in Provocative Times and Joshua Hamilton, PhD and Assistant Professor of English at SC, will read from his full-length poetry collection, Excavator. In addition, Shiven Saxen, Assistant Professor of Digital Arts at SC, will exhibit his visual poetry and collage pieces, providing a unique fusion of art and words. Jo Brazil and Ruth Bumgarner, librarians at Winfield Public Library, will present Rising to the Top, featuring award-winning books currently available at the Winfield Public Library

First Friday at the Marquee: Etzanoa
The Marquee Performing Arts Center celebrates Peoples Indigenous Cultures and Peoples month with a First Friday presentation about Etzanoa, the city of the Wichita People. This Friday, November 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Etzanoa Conservancy director Georgia Zavala will share a presentation about the historical city. The city known as Etzanoa and dubbed "the Great Settlement" by Spanish explorers flourished between 1450 and 1700 is located near the Arkansas River in Arkansas City. The presentation is for individuals of all ages and admission is FREE of charge. Donations for concessions are encouraged.
